Our story
Made for York.
yuMeet was born from a simple observation: York University is massive, but finding your people shouldn't be a full-time job.
The problem
York has tens of thousands of students spread across Keele, Glendon and Markham, split into dozens of faculties and hundreds of programs. Existing social platforms are either too broad or cluttered with noise. We wanted a space that understands the specific rhythm of life at York — from Vari Hall to the Quad.
Our mission
Our mission is to create the digital heartbeat of York University. A place where you can find a study buddy for that brutal ECON midterm, trade textbooks without the middleman, and discover events that actually matter to you.
Who we are
yuMeet is operated by CAYDE Services Inc., a Toronto company, and is built by a small team that includes York students. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking on behalf of York University. We are a student-built product that happens to be built for one campus first.
York proud.
yuMeet isn't just an app; it's a commitment to the York community. We're building features that solve real campus problems, keeping your data safe and your connections authentic.
We are new. And we would rather say so.
yuMeet launched in 2025 and is still early. We are not going to put invented user counts on this website or claim safety systems we have not built. Here is what we would rather tell you.
- The app is in App Store review and the Android build is ready to submit.
- The community is small right now. That is the point of being verified — it is how it stays worth being in.
- Our moderation is people reading reports, not automated scanning. We say so on the Safety Center.
- We would rather have a few hundred students who actually use it than a big number we cannot explain.
